Youth Business Coordinator (YBC) - Job Description

The Youth Business Coordinator (YBC) has two main functions but not limited to: 
Recruit youth into the WIOA youth program,
Recruit and maintain businesses to place youth into Work Experience positions.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Finding and selling the WIOA program to Youth,  
Coordinate with Youth Team Leader and WIOA staff for ensuring youth are trained and ready for Work Experience (WEX) placement,
Establish and maintain close relationships with community partners to promote and recruit for youth program (including attending school board meetings, creating virtual orientations, hosting webinars, attending juvenile system meetings and program events, etc.),
Travel and work within our 10-parish region: Caddo, Bossier, Webster, Claiborne, Bienville, Lincoln, DeSoto, Sabine, Natchitoches, and Red River Parishes,
The ability and courage to be creative and innovative in finding youth, while being responsible for adhering to WIOA laws and policies,
Coordinating placement of participants for the WIOA Youth Work Experience program,
Build positive relationships with employers in Northwest Louisiana,
Develop subsidized and/or unsubsidized placement opportunities for WIOA youth,
Work with youth to determine career goals and objectives for appropriate placement (this will mostly be developed by another staff member), 
Provide information and referral support when needed,
Maintain monthly reports for all youth in work experience (providing to Youth Team Leader and Program Monitor),
Assist with case management to facilitate placement of the youth,
Network with local agencies and employers to assist with participant needs that are outside the scope of WIOA for the purposed of maintaining work experience,
Coordinate with Business Service Representative (BSR) staff for job leads, and the creation of On-the-Job-Training (OJT) contracts after the WEX, 
Reports to the Youth Team Leader,
You may be asked to attend training and conferences which require travel within or without the state, 

Qualifications for this position:
Valid Louisiana driving license,
Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred; however, years of similar work experience will be taken into consideration,
Ability to read and interpret regulations and to perform tasks as outlined in a program guidelines manual,
Ability to speak, type and write in a professional manner and conduct oneself with ethical and moral professionalism,
Ability to quickly learn new computer software and cloud-based programs
Ability to initiate contact and provide assistance to employers,
Ability to promote cooperation and collaboration with partner organizations to maximize opportunities for success, 
Requires multitasking, priority setting, a high level of organization, and focus to deliver a quality program, 
Must possess positive and proactive communications skills to support interactions with various contacts, students, staff, and the general public, 
Must possess exceptional customer service focused approach to interactions, with the program participants, employers, and all partners,
Public speaking skills,
Analyze data and the ability to report, 
Ability to manage files, compile and prepare various reports,
Must have the drive for learning new material, putting in time outside of traditional business hours to learn and advance the program, and have the pride to take ownership of the position, 
Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
