Louisiana Watershed Initiative

The Louisiana Watershed Initiative (LWI) serves as the program through which floodplain management responsibilities are coordinated across federal, state, and local agencies. It is supported by experts who serve as advisors in the hopes of building a foundation of information, projects, policies, standards, and guidance.

Learn More About What We Do!

The goal is to leverage the state’s past and present flood-risk reduction and resilience efforts. We achieve this by working with the selected Regional Steering Committee for Region 1 to identify any data, projects, and polices needed to improve programs and opportunities within our region.

The Coordinating & Development Corporation serves as the fiscal agents for Region 1, which includes Bienville, Bossier, Caddo, Claiborne, DeSoto, Grant, Natchitoches, Rapides, Red River, Sabine, Webster, and Winn Parishes.
